Arthurs Pass Camp

This term we are going to Arthurs Pass camp for three days and two nights.

We have been learning about Heat Exhaustion and Hypothermia.

Paralimpics

This week me, Pippa and Lucy did two activates that involves the paralimpics.

We did the mincraft challenge and made and sports arenra and we did the second 

activate and we made did a desinge a uniform that the nz athletes.

This week for Running Wild we had to write about you if you were at Indonesia

and a big tsumami happened and what would you do.

OONA

OONA THE ELEPHANT

I felt my stomach turn when I saw the water. I know that something is going to happen today, something bad, something very bad. I was doing my usual giving rides to the people. I was almost done with my last one of the day. This boy came to ride me and was amazed to see me but I was not happy to see him. Children are the worst; they kick and slap and even pull our ears. He hops on my back, he says goodbye to his mum and we start to walk. He was very scared at the start and would not even let go of the handle but he slowly got used to me. 

We stop and look out to the sea and that's when it hits me it's coming I gotta go I start sprinting to the jungle with the boy still on my back he is more scared than me. His hand is so tight around the handle that his hands are going purple. I run and run till I can’t feel my legs. I take a break and eat some leaves but then the boy starts yelling and shouting at me. Maybe he is mad that I took him away. Then it happens again to my stomach. I am trying to say run, run , it is not over. So that's what the boy is saying: run. I take off again, jump from river to river and rock to rock. 

 Then everything carms down and I now know that everything is ok. I keep on going but I just walk. I grab a couple of trees on the way past. I offer some to the boy but he just yells and slaps me but I don’t care because my skin is very thick. We walk for a couple of days until we reach a river and I stop to let the boy down. He hops down and runs straight to the water and has big gulps. Then I went up the river to get a fish. When I come back he is gone but then I see him in the far distance walking down the river. I start to panic. He is leaving me. I ran after him. It does not take long before I reach him. I look into his eyes and see the weird look on his face and I know that I need him and he needs me and that I will help him get home.

and now we are reading Running Wild by Michel Morpogo.

The Royal Albatross

For Reading this week we had to do some facts about the Royal Albatross.

The Royal Albatross is a very important part in the story Alone on a wide wide sea.

The Royal Albatross flies and watches allie while she goes on her great adventure

to find her long lost Antie Kitty.

This week my reading group sherd a slide and we had a slide each and write what we thourght of what the story the alone on a wide wide sea would use the word cavalcade of creatures.

This week we have been reading the book alone on a wide wide sea, by Michecel Morporgo 

and there is a evil man call Mr bacon but the kids call him piggy bacon and we had to make 

an advertisment in the news paper to make kids come to his farm.

The life of Ida

Ida was brought up by a very rich family and she was spoiled by her parents. She had a big sister, Margaret. Her parents were very evil people they would never think of anyone but themselves and Ida and her sister. One day we were going to fly to England to have tea with the queen but Ida was n't allowed to go because she was too little and Margaret had to stay and look after her. They played and played but they got bored and waited for their parents. Minutes passed and hours, “where is mother and father?” said Ida.
They went to bed worried about them. The next day when their cook made them breakfast the butler came in with a sad look on his face and had a piece of paper in his hand. He gave it to Magret. She read it in her head. Ida looked curious and said “what does it say” with a big smile on her face, “is it from mother and father?” “Yes” but not in the happiest voice said Magret
and gave it to Ida but Ida could only make out some of the words but they were enuf to know that her mother and father crashed their private jet. Ida’s face dropped, there were tears bubbling in her eyes and the same with Magret.

ANZAC 2021

CHILDREN'S WAR

This term we have been learning about ANZAC , we read Children's War and  about the 28th Moari battlion. ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in who served and died in all wars. On the 28th of July 1914 the World War started and ended on the 11 of November 1918. The word ANZAC stands for  Australia New Zealand Army Corps. In 1916, 25 April was officially named ANZAC Day and the first dawn service for ANZAC Day was in 1923.

treaty of waitangi

The Treaty of Waitangi was signed in the Bay of Islands. It was called the most important document in New Zealand history. The Treaty was made into two different versions. English and Maori. The treaty was signed in 1840 by representatives of the British representing the Crown and the Maori tribal. The problem with the Treaty was that it had to be translated into English overnight by only by two people and they got same things muddled up. So the English thought that the queen had control over Maori and English.but the Maori thought the queen head roll over just the English and had to leave the Maori alone. so that made the land wars start.
